I’m an avid advocate of dope first lines on verses, but even more so for dope opening records. Enter Brooklyn-based producer/engineer sndwn., straight through the f***ing wall like the kool-aid man (oh yea!). His debut album The Halo Effect was just recently unleashed unto this plane after two years of deliberation and it starts off with a bang. In a fashion we can definitely appreciate, THE features various artists from all across the states – including Asoh Black!, Olukara, and more. The vibe varies as the listener travels from state to state sampling the grooves from all these hungry emcees, with a nice selection of smooth instrumentals laced throughout. If you’re like me, then you may especially enjoy the intro, “Flights”, and track 5, “Me, Myself & I”. The production was right on time with my clock, and the featured artists did very well to complement. The rewind button still lives! Get lifted and thank your water:
